A Reflection on Surrender, Perseverance, and the Restless Pursuit of Peace
Sometimes life feels like it’s festering — not in a dramatic or destructive way, but in a quiet restlessness that lingers beneath the surface.
We know who God is. We believe He loves us. We even know our purpose: to live for His purpose, to love always, and to serve with passion.
And yet, we still wander. We hesitate. We procrastinate — even when the direction seems clear and the calling unmistakable.
Each day we pray for perseverance — to stay the course, to keep showing up, to trust when we cannot see. But even so, something in us resists.
What’s Holding Us Back?
Is it regret over dreams we never fully chased? Is it disappointment over how things turned out — or who we’ve quietly blamed along the way? Or is it something deeper — a quiet unwillingness to surrender our plans for His?
Maybe the restlessness we feel isn’t a sign of distance from God, but a sign of His gentle invitation. He’s not condemning our hesitation; He’s calling us closer.
What if the clarity we keep praying for doesn’t come through a new plan or a perfect answer, but through surrender — through the daily decision to say: “Lord, I don’t need to understand. I just need to follow.”
The Corner We Need to Turn
Surrender isn’t defeat — it’s trust. It’s letting go of what we thought life should look like and stepping into what God has been preparing all along.
Our dreams, our hopes, our wants — they aren’t wrong. But they’re not the destination. They’re the trail that leads us home.
So the invitation is simple, yet lifelong: Lord, we surrender our dreams, our hopes, and our wants. Make them Yours. Because everything we’ve ever wanted pales in comparison to You.
Scripture to Reflect On
Proverbs 3:5–6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
